SSE 3 (Part 3): Material Efficiency and Sustainable Materials (SSE 3 (Part 3))

Description
In this course, you will become familiar with the basics of materials, their composition, and their roles in human systems. You will also learn about the principles of selecting sustainable materials for applications in a circular economy.

During this course, we'll cover topics like:

- basics of material qualities
- principles of sustainable material selection
- secondary materials and their use
- circular and ecological design methodologies

A circular economy is one way that we can mitigate and adapt to climate change. However, successfully implementing a circular economy requires a change in how we value and manage materials. It is estimated that ~80% of material waste can be prevented by making sustainable design choices. By the end of this course, you will understand how material choices and material efficiency impact economic as well as social and environmental sustainable development.

Hopefully, you have completed any of the preceding SSE 2 or SSE 3 courses already, but if not- that's ok! This course is for those who understand the basic principles of circular economy and sustainable development. You will gain new insights into these topics related to sustainable materials and the management of product lifecycles. If you are interested in designing truly sustainable products and solutions, you are in the right place! Everything you need to know will be taught during the course.

It's time to continue your journey in the world of sustainable solutions engineering!
